New Lotus Assembly Line

Lotus Cars has recently installed a brand new rim/tyre assembly line at its factory in Hethel, Norfolk, equipping it with the very latest technology from Hofmann Megaplan.

Having previously out-sourced its tyre fitment, Lotus decided it wanted to install its own facility. Following a great deal of research, it opted to equip itself with a megamount ‘Boss’ tyre changer, megaspin 900 TFT balancer, and elements of the Speed-Line system including wheel lifter and Safety inflation Station.

The end result is a tyre assembly line that provides Lotus with the best possible configuration. Taking into account productivity, the need to minimize any chance of damage, and of course health & safety issues such as manual handling.

The facility at Group Lotus is another example of Hofmann Megaplan’s association with OEMs, adding to a list of customers that currently includes Nissan, Vauxhall and Land Rover/Range Rover, amongst others.
