The busiest tyre site in the world uses Hofmann Megaplan

Micheldever

Hofmann Megaplan have recently re-fitted Micheldever Tyres in Winchester, officially recognised as the busiest tyre site in the world based on official manufacturer statistics.

The re-fit incorporates specially designed megamount 801XLS tyre changers and megaspin 800-2 balancers, as well as additional equipment such as nitrogen inflation and Ahcon bead breaking and safety inflation systems.

The tyre bay at Micheldever handles extreme volumes of tyres, with vehicles queuing out of the complex into the local village on a regular basis, and the machines are therefore subject to an extra-ordinary level of wear and tear.

“We considered a number of potential options in terms of manufacturers and models” comments General Manager Marc Ainslie, “but Hofmann Megaplan, particularly as an existing supplier to our retail and wholesale operations, came out as the most logical choice due to their background of manufacturing equipment for Industrial applications and their willingness to develop something for what is a quite unique situation”.

The megamount 801XLS has been designed to withstand continual demand and intensive use, and the megaspin 800-2 wheel balancer incorporates the VDD (Virtual Direct Drive) System that is employed on Hofmann Industrial machines.

“It was a really proud moment for me to see these machines going into such a prestigious location” commented Hofmann Megaplan MD James Boon, “and has turned out to be a project of major interest to our factory and partners worldwide, as being able to lay claim to being the choice of the busiest site in the world certainly brings with it some kudos and, more importantly, credibility and confidence for our customers”.
