There is no doubt about it, Nitrogen inflation is becoming more common as customers demand the service and anybody dealing in tyres will need to consider meeting the demand. In addition, certain new vehicles are coming out of the factory with nitrogen in the tyres as standard, setting the tone for nitrogen filling to become the ‘norm’ in the future.
NG1000
The NG1000 ‘storage’ system is more commonly seen. It is a system that connects to the compressed air and stores Nitrogen ready for use. This means you have an instant delivery at the same speed and convenience as a regular air inflation gauge. With two outlets, the NG1000 can simultaneously inflate 2 tyres, and a vacuum unit is supplied to ‘purge’ the tyre of existing air first to ensure maximum nitrogen purity.
TyreSaver ‘Gun’
Tyresaver is a lance-style unit that connects up to an existing compressed air supply and simply ‘scrubs’ the oxygen out to deliver nitrogen. The advantages of this system are that it represents a low-cost way to get into the service, it is very convenient, and the membrane technology employed means it is delivers the same end product as units 10 times the price! The Tyresaver comes with a cartridge that will allow around 12,000 fills based on an average sized tyre. When the cartridge is complete, the LCD display will disappear and a new cartridge should be inserted, and you have another 12,000 fills – it’s almost ‘pay as you earn’ except the earning potential is astronomical (12,000 fills at £1 per tyre = £12,000, less the ongoing cartridge cost of approx. £400 gives you a net result of £11,600 earned every time you replace that cartridge!).
